Vital Security Appliance NG-8300 is the dedicated Security Load Balancer device in Finjan's Vital Security Appliance Series NG-8000 , a set of robust hardware-based security solutions for enterprises. Designed to enhance overall solution reliability and performance, this powerful Security Load Balancer provides enterprises with the high availability they require for continuous business operations, ensuring zero downtime. Optimized for Finjan's security scanners, Vital Security Appliance NG-8300 supports full load sharing between several Vital Security scanners. The Security Load Balancer uses specially-developed algorithms to distribute network traffic equally between online scanners, maximizing system performance. It carries out real-time health checks and load status checks with all scanners to verify scanner availability and reinforce the load balancing. In the event that a Finjan scanner goes offline for maintenance or other reasons, the Security Load Balancer seamlessly routes traffic to the other online scanners, allowing users to continue business as usual.
Meeting the Needs of Enterprises
In addition to the load balancing functionality, Finjan's Security Load Balancer incorporates special functionality that enhances the performance of Finjan's scanners and improves the overall network security. Once connected in the "Finjan environment", the Security Load Balancer acts as the scanners' authentication manager. Residing in the corporate LAN, it performs authentication of user requests opposite the Domain Controller, instead of each scanner performing authentication for each session. This reduces network congestion and accelerates the authentication process. It also enhances the scanners' performance, since they do not have to allocate resources for authentication.
Robust, High Availability Device Vital Security Appliance NG-8300 was designed to ensure high performance, reliability and high availability. It runs on a high performance blade server platform with hot swappable, redundant power supplies, cooling systems and switches for unsurpassed reliability. The Security Load Balancer is based on a customized and hardened Linux OS, which ensures that the device is secure and optimized "out of the box."
