The Committee and Parents
Emmer Green Pre-school is a registered charity and a non-profit making organisation run by a Committee of Parents. The Committee is formed each year by parents who attend the Annual General Meeting.
The Committee is responsible for:
- The appointment of staff.
- Policy Making.
- Running the business side of the pre-school.
- Fund Raising
The Committee meets regularly to discuss any issues that arise and to organise the fund raising events. There are many opportunities for parents to help pre-school in other ways. Any help is welcome, so if you have a special skill, please speak to the Supervisor or Committee Chair. We will put your skill to good use! If you have any queries or want to join the Committee please feel free to contact the Chair. Remember, the pre-school would close without a committee to run it! Parent Rota Research shows that children learn better when their parents are involved. Our rota system involves all parents in the group on a regular basis. This helps to maintain the high ratio of adults to children in our pre-school, guaranteeing individual care and attention for each child. It also give parents the opportunity to take part in the group, to see what happens there and to talk about it afterwards with their child, as well as discuss their child’s progress with their key worker. Children can also see their own parents/carers in a new role. The pre-school policy is to have two parents helping per session, therefore parents are asked to do a minimum of two sessions per term. So that the parent can help on a day suitable to them, a list is posted on the notice board before the end of every half term in preparation for the following term. This allows parents to choose and plan in advance when they can help.
