ThreatResponseT

Keeping Your IronMail Tuned For Emerging Threats

Secure Computing is committed to protecting your messaging investment. Secure Computing's worldwide threat R&D team monitors and analyzes e-mail threats globally to keep our customers continually protected. One output of this research is the Secure Computing ThreatResponseT updates provided to IronMail appliances in the field. Secure Computing ThreatResponseT is designed to maximize the effectiveness and protection of IronMail customers by continually providing optimal configuration settings for IronMail units in the field.

Key Benefits and Functionality

Always Current on the Threat Environment

Secure Computing ThreatResponseT represents a significant shift in the battle against spam and e-mail threats. With TRU, every Secure Computing customer is ensured the most effective IronMail configuration available allowing organizations to achieve the highest possible levels of inbound threat security.

Administrator Relief

E-mail and security administrators are spending too much time fighting spam. With ThreatResponseT, Secure Computing dramatically reduces the time required to administer IronMail as ThreatResponseT is automatically delivered to each IronMail appliance, effectively eliminating the need for administrators to tune or configure anti-spam and allowing them to focus on using IronMail to achieve policy and security goals.

Comprehensive Updates

Secure Computing ThreatResponseT delivers a wide variety of data to IronMail units, including:

  • TrustedSourceT reputation data
  • Content filtering dictionaries and updates
  • Bayesian rule sets
  • Statistical lookup service (SLS -real-time communications between IronMail appliances and Secure Computing Research Labs monitoring every email received by an IronMail unit to determine if a virus outbreak is in process.)
  • Header analysis rules
  • Intrusion detection settings and alerts
  • Recommended security policies
  • "Genetically optimized" settings for maximum IronMail effectiveness

A Note on Genetic Tuning

Secure Computing continually collects, verifies and updates lists, rules, and configurations being used by customers all over the world. Each TRU is tuned and tested against a vast, constantly updated global database of threat information derived from over 4,000 deployed IronMail appliances.

To automate the IronMail calibration testing process, Secure Computing developed Genetic Tuning, an analysis technique borrowed from DNA research, which tests combinations of values for thousands of message characteristics. Genetic Tuning identifies the optimal combination of values for all characteristics examined by IronMail. TRU applies the new settings, resulting in an optimally tuned IronMail and providing maximum protection against spam and spam-born threats.
